4 Key Components of Any Effective Landing Page

June 08, 2016

One of the main goals of a web marketing campaign is to generate a conversion by directing users to your website. Rather than having them go right to your site’s homepage, though, it’s typically considered best to have visitors go to a specific landing page. While this may seem like an unnecessary step, using a landing page actually has several benefits.

Mostly, a landing page eliminates all of the other distractions on your homepage and allows you to point the visitor toward what you want him or her to do: subscribe to the newsletter, request a quote, purchase a product, and so on.

To make a truly effective landing page, you’ll want to include all of these four essential components:

1. Create content that is specific to the page

Your landing page should have a single, focused goal. Why should your target clientele subscribe to your newsletter or make an appointment? Keep in mind, the text on that page should speak directly to that goal, as well as why it’s in the visitor’s best interest to do whatever you’re asking him or her to do.

2. Include compelling visuals

A picture is worth a thousand words! Text is a hugely important part of any web page, but at its core, the web is a visual medium. Using attractive photos, revealing graphics, and videos that directly relate to your page’s goal catch your visitors’ eyes and help to persuade them to generate a conversion.

3. Insert a clear and simple form

You’ll probably need to collect some details from every visitor, and transfer them into a database. This is why the form has to be clear and simple. Don’t run the risk of a visitor leaving your landing page without having taking action!

4. Make a strong call to action

Leave nothing to the imagination: tell your reader exactly what you want him or her to do. There’s no one way to do this, so you’ll want to experiment with different wordings and see what works best. Additionally, if your call to action includes a button to download or purchase something, use strong wording on the button itself to add to the persuasiveness of your call.
